Skeleton Technologies and Powall have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to test Powall’s Innovative Nanocoating Technology

Skeleton Technologies is set to explore Powall’s proprietary dry-phase powder coating technology and its potential in high-power energy storage.

“The relationship between the liquid electrolyte and the electrode is an important, yet often overlooked, facet of electrochemical energy storage. Skeleton is interested in investigating the potential of gas phase surface coating of active materials to enhance the performance and manufacturing efficiency of our next-gen battery products, while also reducing production costs. Powall’s technology looks promising, and we’re keen to determine whether this initial exploration will lead to something more substantial,” said Skeleton’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Froböse.

“We are applying ultra-thin coatings on powder materials and can produce these at industrial scale with our unique technology. Breakthrough developments using ultra-thin coatings are made commercially available. The development with Skeleton Technologies will pave the way to showcase scalability,” said Alexis Thoelen, Chief Commercial Officer of Powall.

Skeleton Technologies specializes in the high-power, fast-charging segment of energy storage. Its supercapacitors and SuperBattery are used in transport, grid, industrial, and automotive sectors where they reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, enhance power quality, and facilitate the electrification of hard-to-abate industries.
