The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) has launched a tender for construction of several solar plants linked to energy storage systems.
FSM has received financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of the FSM Renewable Energy Development Project (FSMREDP). Part of this financing will be used for payments under the contracts “FSM Renewable Energy Development Project” and “Supply and installation of both rooftop and ground mounted Solar PV Generation including an integrated Battery Storage system; and Supply and installation of both rooftop and ground mounted Solar PV Generation”. Bidding is open to prequalified Bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.
First Lot
Lot 1, Island of Yap. To supply and install an 800 kW / 800 kWh BESS at the Yap State Public Service Corporation power station, to supply and install 300 kW rooftop solar PV at the sports centre, and at least 1.6 MW of ground mounted solar PV connected to the Yap main grid near to the power station (but not including system integration work to be done by others).
Second Lot
Lot 2, Island of Kosrae. To supply and install at least 1.0 MW of ground mounted and rooftop solar PV connected to the Kosrae main grid. To supply and install a hybrid minigrid electrification scheme for Walung Village which is to include a 30 kW / 160 kWh BESS, 60 kW rooftop mounted solar PV, 9 solar home systems and a 30 kW diesel generator to be housed in a purpose built power house. The mini-grid includes an underground distribution line and household connections.
Construction of the facilities is expected to require around $15 million and developers can submit bids until July 13.
