Chinese battery energy storage system (BESS) maker Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co Ltd said on Friday that it has installed one of its devices in Bulgaria, rolling out a solution of 5.1 MW/17. MWh for a commercial and industrial (C&I) application.
The system was installed for an undisclosed client who operates a solar photovoltaic plant but lacks storage to capture excess solar power generation. This has resulted in the client wasting electricity during the day and then purchasing it from the grid at night, according to Sermatec.
Sermatec deployed 48 units of its EasyCube Series 372kWh Energy Storage Systems for this project. Each cabinet-style system utilises advanced 3.2V 280Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offering a conversion efficiency of up to 99% and a design life exceeding 15 years. This solution is designed to enhance energy storage efficiency, reliability, and safety while addressing challenges related to solar over-generation, the Shanghai-based company said.
The project also used Sermatec’s own energy management system (EMS), which integrates solar power generation, manages peak and off-peak usage, and provides real-time monitoring, and its battery management system (BMS), which ensures battery safety and health.
