Eni announces that it has signed an agreement with SERI Industrial to develop an industrial chain for lithium-iron phosphate batteries, designed for energy storage applications and industrial and commercial electric mobility.
The project calls for the creation of a joint venture to build, on Eni’s site in Brindisi (Italy), a storage battery production plant, an active materials production line and a recycling unit, to complement a SERI Industrial site in the province of Caserta (Italy).
This collaboration could contribute to industrial development in southern Italy and support the energy transition by boosting the use of renewable energies, thanks to stationary batteries that compensate for the intermittent nature of these sources.
If the agreement materializes, it could lead to future commitments aimed at consolidating SERI’s position in the battery value chain and diversifying Eni’s industrial initiatives in favor of decarbonization.
