ESA hosts virtual policy Forum event for Energy Policy Leaders

The U.S. Energy Storage Association (ESA), the national trade association for the American energy storage industry, will host its ninth annual ESA Energy Storage Policy Forum virtually on Feb. 3-4. The Forum marks one of the first major energy events in a newly formed administration, and will convene stakeholders from across the energy ecosystem and feature nationally recognized policymakers and energy thought-leaders.

This year’s Energy Storage Policy Forum will feature administration, congressional and state policy makers, as well as grid operators in discussion of legislative and regulatory priorities for 2021, and the impacts on the energy storage industry. Given the recent administration and congressional transitions, this year’s forum will provide an important early opportunity to understand directly from policy makers what to expect in accelerating the clean energy economy. Featured keynotes and speakers for the event include industry thought leaders such as:

  • Richard Glick, FERC Commissioner
  • Susan Collins, US Senate
  • Gina McCarthy, Incoming National Climate Advisor
  • Earl Blumenauer, US House of Representatives
  • Alejandro Moreno, US Department of Energy, Water Power Technologies Office
  • Michael DeSocio, New York Independent System Operator
  • Katherine Peretick, Michigan Public Service Commissioner
  • Jennifer McClellan, Virginia Senator
  • Christopher J. Hansen, Colorado Senator

“As the one of the first energy industry gatherings under the new Biden-Harris Administration and the 117th Congress, the ESA Energy Storage Policy Forum will provide timely and unique insight into understanding how energy storage works within the current regulatory framework and what is needed to remove barriers and drive deployment,” said Kelly Speakes-Backman, CEO of ESA. “I am excited for ESA to convene the nation’s top energy storage leaders to discuss how to further drive energy storage and its benefits for a more resilient, efficient, sustainable and affordable electricity grid for all.”

“I am pleased to be speaking at the Energy Storage Association’s Policy Forum this year,” said FERC Commissioner Richard Glick. “Energy storage is a key resource in lowering our nation’s carbon footprint and enhancing grid reliability. I look forward to discussing the future of the technology in 2021 and beyond.”

“Energy storage is a critical part of the bold, comprehensive agenda that we must pursue to decarbonize our economy and address the climate emergency,” said Rep. Earl Blumenauer. “My colleagues and I in the 117th Congress have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive the growth of energy storage and take long overdue steps to save our planet.”
