Kempower and Sprocket Power sign collaboration in the US

The EV hardware manufacturer Kempower has signed a deal with Sprocket Power in the US. The former will supply EV chargers for projects combining solar power generation, battery storage, energy management, and EV chargers for companies in the United States.

Sprocket Power essentially provides microgrids to commercial entities, combining energy storage, solar PV, energy management and EV charging. The latter will also be provided by Kempower.

As one of the first collaboration projects, Kempower will deliver its chargers to Sunrise Toyota dealers in the New York area. The company does not mention exactly how many EV chargers will be delivered or when. The only thing that can be said for sure is that, given the infrastructure will be supplied by Kempower, it will be DC chargers.

However, Sprocket Power also works with other EV infrastructure providers, offering AC as well as DC solutions. In fact, most projects featured on its website were equipped with Level 2 and Level 3 chargers. It is not clear from the press release whether another EV solutions provider will supply AC chargers in this case. What is clear is that, according to Sprocket Power, integrating solar power generation, energy storage and management, as well as EV charging can “achieve significant utility bill savings of up to 90 per cent.”

“Our collaboration with Sprocket Power represents an exciting opportunity to bring Kempower’s advanced EV charging solutions to businesses looking for reliable, scalable, and sustainable energy systems. By integrating our proven DC fast chargers with Sprocket Power’s innovative microgrids, we’re helping to create a future where clean energy and EV charging go hand in hand,” said Jed Routh, Vice President of Markets and Products, Kempower

“We have experienced rising utility costs for years,” said Jimmy Berg, Dealer Principal at Sunrise Toyota. “We are also increasingly sensitive to power outages that shut down our operations. This investment in our facility and business creates a strong investment case by controlling these costs. The resiliency benefits are an important bonus .”
